Hohoe GNAT expresses anger at Single Spine salary

Hohoe, March 3, GNA - Hohoe Municipality branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) have expressed disappointment about their ne= w salaries under the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS). Members have therefore threatened that if no tangible messages were received from the authorities by Friday, March 4, it would boycott of the Independence Day parade on Sunday. This was contained in a statement signed and read by Mr Godwin Sadzi, Chairman of Hohoe Municipal branch of GNAT to members at the E. P Primary School premises. The Association said members would lay down their tools from Tuesday March 8 and further boycott the supervision of the Basic Education Certificate Examination and the West Africa Schools Certificate Examinations. The statement found it appalling for Mr George Graham-Smith, Chairman of the Fair Wages Commission, to blame GNAT and the National Association of Graduate Teachers for exerting pressure on the Commission to migrate teachers onto the SSSS, hence the anomalies. It called on Fair Wages Commission as a matter of urgency to bring bac= k the smiles onto the faces of teachers.
