Thousands of residents of Koforidua trooped to the streets of the New Juaben Municipality to participate in the walk for the breast cancer awareness campaign organized by Breast Care International (BCI) over the weekend.
The walk which started around 0700 hrs saw people from the New Juaben Municipality and other parts of the country gathered at the Koforidua Prisons Park as early as 0530 hrs to join the campaign.
The over one hour walk saw the participants walk from the Prisons Park, through the Estate Junction, the central market area to the Koforidua Jackson Park.
The walk was greeted with lots of excitement and merry making as participants danced to songs from the brass bands.
The purpose of the walk was intended to create awareness on breast cancer so that people will see the need to go for early checkup.
The First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the Deputy Ministers for Gender, Youth and Social Protection and Local Government, the Eastern Regional Minister, the Paramount Chief of New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Oti Boateng and other top celebrities joined the occasion.
