Anomabo (C/R), Dec. 29, GNA - The Deputy Minister for Information and MP- elect for the Mfantseman West constituency, Mr. Stephen Asamoah Boateng, has urged parents and teachers to help inculcate into the younger generation credible moral values that would make them lead more fulfilling lives in future.
Mr. Asamoah-Boateng was speaking at Egyaa, near Anomabo where some immediate past students of the Trinity Methodist Preparatory School, were honoured for their outstanding performance in the 2004 Basic Education Certificate Examination on Monday. The occasion was also aimed at soliciting funds from philanthropists and benevolent organizations to address the numerous problems facing the school.
Mr Asamoah-Boateng called on parents to rededicate themselves to the task of upholding religious values, to bring spiritual and moral revival in the lives of their children. He tasked them to be "up and doing" so that collectively, they could make positive contributions towards efforts at transforming the nation economically.
He promised to help schools in the constituency to attain quality education by providing them with the necessary teaching and learning materials including computers and books. He also promised to liase with the relevant authorities to help the school to acquire a bus to facilitate transportation of the children.
The headmaster of the School, Mr. Joe Arthur, in his annual report, said the school placed first in the Mfantseman District and scored 100 percent with three students obtaining aggregate six, whilst two students also had aggregate seven with the lowest grade being aggregate 19. He commended the teachers for their enthusiasm and encouraged them to continue with their hard work.
Mr. Arthur appealed to individuals and NGOs to help the school complete a JSS block now under construction.
The Superintendent Minister of the Anomabo Circuit of the Methodist church, Very Reverend Mensah Bonsu, paid a glowing tribute to the founding members of the school for their vision on quality education.
The chairman for the occasion, Mr. Frank Neequaye, a former Presiding Member of the Mfantseman District Assembly, advised parents to invest heavily in their children education so that they could enjoy better lives in their old age.
