Institute of Public Relations, Ghana to hold elections in October

The Institute of Public Relations, (IPR) Ghana has fixed Wednesday, October 14, 2016 for the election of officers for Council.

Nominations for the various positions: PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT, HONORARY SECRETARY, DEPUTY HONORARY SECRETARY and TREASURER opened on Monday, July 18, 2016 and will close on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 4.00 pm.

A statement signed by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku explained that in accordance with Article VIII (2) of the Constitution and Article V(2) (b &c) of the Bye Laws of the Institute of Public Relations, Ghana; only members in good standing shall have the right to vote. This includes Affiliate, Associate and Accredited members.

Members desiring to offer themselves for election to any of the aforementioned Officers of Council positions, are advised to call at the Secretariat to collect nomination forms or visit the IPR website, www.iprghana.com to download forms.

“Please note that officers are eligible to serve another year in office and thus are eligible for re-nomination except for the position of the Honorary Secretary where the current occupant has served the maximum two terms and cannot serve in the same office.

Candidates must be Accredited Members in good standing and only members in good standing qualify to propose and second the nomination of a candidate “ the statement added.

Mr Ayiku stated that vetting of all qualified candidates would take place after the filing of nominations and said the results of the vetting would be announced after assessing the aspirants.
