New Edubiase (Ash), June 6, GNA - Teachers in the Adansi South District have called for the involvement of more Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers in the marking of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
They described as "unfair" and "unacceptable" the present situation where the bulk of the markers are drawn from the Senior Secondary Schools (SSS), Colleges of Education and the Universities. These were contained in a communiqu=E9 issued by more than 30 JSS Mathematics Teachers at the end of a day's workshop at New Edubiase. The workshop was organised by the district branch of the Parish Association of Catholic Teachers to assist enhance the teaching of Mathematics in the schools.
They maintained that the inclusion of JSS teachers in the marking team could lead to an improvement in the performance of the system because it would enable them familiarise with examiners demand thereby using their experience to impact administration and test scoring in the schools.
