Kumasi, Aug 6, GNA - The Islamic Centre for the Relief of the Deprived, a non-governmental organisation and the Fijir Islamic Institute in Kumasi on Saturday presented assorted items worth seven million cedis to the Kumasi Children's Home.
The items included bags of rice and gari, second-hand clothing and footwear, toiletries, confectionary and soft drinks. Making the presentation, Imam Ibrahim Lamin Yusif, Head of Fijir Institute said the donation was in fulfilment of the Islamic act of giving arms to the needy, especially orphans.
He pledged their regular visit to the Home and appealed to the privileged in society to assist the less privileged that suffer through no fault of theirs.
Madam Margaret Djani, Child Care Officer at the Home, who received the items, thanked the two institutions for the gesture.
