Jake joins staff of tourism departments to have fun

Ada (G/A) Jan. 28, GNA - Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Acting Minister of Tourism and Modernization of the Capital City, on Friday joined workers from the Ministry, Ghana Tourist Board, Ghana Tourism Development Company and Hotel and Catering Training Institute for an end of year party at the Manet Paradise Hotel.

Activities that characterized the occasion included a ride on a ferry for an hour and a half and games interspersed with music and dance, in which the Minister participated.

Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey told the Ghana News Agency that an end of year party was always organized at places with tourist attractions to enable people working within the tourism industry to have more knowledge about the attractions in the country.

"A person working within the tourism industry should be able to appreciate the various tourism products we have in the country to enable them to promote such products to people who do not know about them."

Such things, the Acting Minister said would also promote domestic tourism and would also improve arrivals at various tourism sites in the country, generating revenue for the local people. He commended the workers for the good work done in the previous year, saying: "We made strides the previous year even though we are under-funded."

Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey urged the workers to work harder this year to bring to the fore the realisation of the vision of the Ministry and the government as a whole.
