The Jamestown Fishing Harbour project has been completed and is set to be officially commissioned on Friday, September 13, 2024.

This announcement was made by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Presidency.

The completion of this significant project marks a milestone in the government's infrastructure development plans for Ghana's fishing industry.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, 10 September 2024, Mr. Arhin highlighted the state-of-the-art facilities incorporated into the new harbour.

“Jamestown Fishing Harbour completed; and will be commissioned on Friday by President Akufo-Addo,” he shared.

The harbour is equipped with modern amenities including cold storage units, processing facilities, a net mending bay, and administrative offices.

These upgrades are expected to enhance productivity for local fishermen and fishmongers, providing them with improved tools for preserving and processing their catch.

Mr. Arhin emphasised that the project aligns with the government's broader agenda to elevate the fishing industry's standards and promote economic growth in coastal communities.

"This development is a crucial step towards improving the livelihoods of those in the fishing sector," he said.
