Thousands of activists from Jane's Army of Women (JAW) stormed the 'Orange Friday' procession in Oguaa, Cape Coast, on Friday to garner support for the presidential running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming December 7 general election.

Dressed in orange T-shirts with the inscription "She-Vice," JAW activists paraded through the main streets of the Central Regional capital with enthusiasm and camaraderie.

Addressing members of the group from the 23 constituencies in the Central region, the chairperson of Jane’s Army of Women, Lois Quarteng-Mensah, emphasized that the group aims to secure about 80% of women's votes in the Central Region for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Lois Quarteng-Mensah stated that the mere presence of a woman on the NDC ticket should unite all women in Ghana to support and help shatter the glass ceiling for women in government.

"It's a women's issue, and regardless of our political affiliations, we must come together as women to make history with Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang," emphasized Lois Quarteng-Mensah.

The members of JAW urged women in the Central region to strongly support their own, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, by voting in large numbers for the NDC in the December polls.

Established in 2013, Orange Friday has become one of Cape Coast's signature events, known for its vibrant atmosphere and enthusiastic participation.

The city streets, shops, and homes are decorated with bright orange decorations, creating a visually stunning display.

The event combines entertainment, business, and culture, with families, friends, and visitors coming together to enjoy various activities such as live music performances, dance competitions, art exhibitions, and local food stalls offering delicious treats that highlight the region's culinary heritage.

This year's event had a unique twist with Jane's Army of Women (JAW) actively participating in the She-Vice President project and calling for all Ghanaian women to support Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

Before the 'Orange Friday' procession in Cape Coast, JAW activists had organized similar events during the festivals in Agortime and Ziope in the Volta Region, as well as at the Homowo Twin festival and the Womba street carnival a few weeks ago.
