There was jubilation at Half Assini when a fire tender allocated to the Jomoro District arrived in the town on Monday.
The Jomoro District has been without a fire tender in its history until last Monday when the 3,000 capacity facility was seen in the town.
A similar machine was allocated to the Fire Station at Elubo also in the district some few months ago.
As the tender blared its horn and sounded its siren in the town, a large number of people trooped to the streets to catch a glimpse of the brand new tender escorted by the District Chief Executive, Mr Sylvester Dadieh.
Mr Emmanuel Kwaw, a resident of the town, said the arrival of the tender would stop the situation where fire tenders had to come from Takoradi, Tarkwa and Agona Nkwanta to the district in case of fire outbreaks.
He said in most cases, before these tenders travelled over 100 kilometres to the scene, the affected houses had completely burnt down.
Mr Dadieh, addressing the people who followed the tender to the District Fire Station at Half Assini, said the facility and the Fire Station would be inaugurated soon.**
