Jomoro pledges fund to the physically challenged.

Half Assini (W/R), Sept. 29, GNA - Mr Victor N. Kabenla, Jomoro District Chief Executive (DCE), said the District Assembly will release the two percent of the District Assembly Common Fund meant for the physically challenged to them. "Government cares about the plight of the physically challenged and all efforts must be done to make the funds available to them," he said. Mr. Kabenla said this at the inauguration of the Jomoro district branch of the Physically Challenged Association at Half Assini. He said disability is not inability, so the abilities of the physically challenged must be tapped for national development. Mr. Blay Nyanzu, District Social Welfare Officer also urged society not to scorn the physically challenged, since anyone could be in that situation at any point in time as a result of accident and called on churches and other organizations to come to the aid of the physically challenged.

He advised parents to send their babies to the hospital for immunization to minimize the risk of becoming physically challenged in future.

Mr. Michael Aboagye Awuah, District Chairman of the Physically Challenged Association, appealed to the DCE to assist them in organizing workshops to train members to become useful artisans to the District, to prevent them from begging for alms. Mr. George Eric, a contractor working in the area donated two wheel chairs to the Association.
