Ghanaian journalists will join their colleagues globally to mark Press Freedom Day.
A ceremony will be held at the International Press Centre in Accra by the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA).
World Press Freedom Day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in December 1993 following recommendations by UNESCO’s general conference.
Since then, the anniversary of the declaration at Windhoek is celebrated as World Press Freedom Day every 3rd May.
It is an opportunity to celebrate the fundamental principles of press freedom, assess the state of press freedom throughout the world, defend the media from attacks and pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
