Kumasi, Dec 18, GNA - The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Co-operative Credit Union in Kumasi granted about two billion cedis loans to its members in 2003.
Mr I. Offeh-Gyimah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the union, said this at the first annual general meeting of the union in Kumasi on Friday.
He said the union made a net profit of 48 million cedis and its savings and deposits increased from 106 million cedis to 565.5 million cedis.
Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, Chief Executive Officer of the KATH, said the union has lessened the burden of the hospital in giving salary advances and financial assistance to staff of the hospital. He urged the staff to develop interest in the credit union concept and join it to enable them get assistance in times of financial difficulties. 18 Dec 04
