KMA/Kejetia impasse out of court

Proposed Kejetia Market Proposed Kejetia Market

The Kejetia Traders Association is to withdraw the lawsuit, seeking to place an injunction on the commencement of the first phase of the $298 million Kejetia/Central Market Redevelopment Project.

The move comes on the back of the intervention made by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for an amicable settlement of the impasse.

The traders had prayed the court to place an injunction on the execution of the first phase of the Kejetia/Central Market Project, until all standing issues had been cleared.

The traders wanted the KMA to come clear on the processes for their resettlement, and also to be given the concession to first own shops and stalls upon the completion of the project.

Vice-President of the Association, in an interview with Ghana News Agency, said: “the traders are so far satisfied with measures being in place by the Asantehene to get all outstanding issues resolved.”

“We will accede to the Asantehene’s request and believe that the pathway he has drawn to get the Assembly to addressing issues bothering on our resettlement would materialize”.
