KMA adopts budget

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, KMA is expected to spend more than 42 billion cedis of its estimated internally generated funds on its programmes and projects this year.

The assembly is to spend 26 point seven billion and 16 point one billion cedis on its recurrent expenditure and projects. The assembly has also projected a surplus of more than hundred million cedis. These are contained in the assembly?s revenue and expenditure estimates for this year which was adopted at a meeting at the assembly today. the 25 page budged document highlights the assembly?s financial commitment for the year 2005.

In the document, the assembly has earmarked 200 million cedis each for streetlights projects and funereal donations. The assembly has also projected one point two billion cedis to be paid as sitting allowances and 250 million cedis for entertainment programmes. it also plans to make voluntary donations of 100 million cedis and 155 million cedis doe cultural programmes. Members of the assembly who debated the estimates only amended earlier estimates of 20 million cedis to the Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council to 100 million cedis. Adopting the estimates today, the assembly members called for proactiveness this year to make the assembly live up to expectations.
