KNUST signs MOU to support GTUC

Kumasi, Aug 20, GNA - Ghana Telecom University College (GTUC), and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a framework of collaboration between the two institutions. This would pave way for the college to become affiliated with KNUST, leading to the award of KNUST degrees to students of GTUC. The MOU is also to promote academic and research co-operation, capacity building, faculty exchange and exchange of experiences, information and best practices.

Dr Osei Kofi Darkwa, President of GTUC, signed for the college whilst Professor Kwasi Kwafo Adarkwa, Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, signed for the university. Dr Darkwa said the college was committed to a new form of education that was technologically-driven to help address the socio-economic challenges of the nation. He said the MOU was influenced by the desire to attract quality students to pursue programmes that would adequately resource them to meet the demands of society. He said the college's vision was to be at the forefront of telecommunications and engineering training in the country.

Professor Adarkwa said KNUST encouraged affiliation with other universities as a way to promote science and technology education for the benefit of the nation. He drew attention to the need for the country's private universities to be innovative and adopt the best practices to help develop Ghana's human resource.
