Mr Kempes Ofosuware, National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Tema East, has advised the youth to eschew drugs, alcoholism and social vices and engage in competitive and leisure sports to enhance their physical and mental health.
According to him, many youths have shattered their life dreams and now living in hopelessness and cynism all because of drugs and other social vices.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency on the sidelines of the final match of the Shamo Quaye Memorial Inter sites Football competition in Tema, he said sports does not only enhance one’s health but also teaches endurance and discipline.
Site 15 beat Site 5 two goals to nil to win a cow as a prize donated by Mr Ofosuware.
The football competition is organized annually for the various Sites (neighbourhood) in Tema Community One and Tema Newtown to honour Shamo Quaye, an indigene of Tema, who played for Accra Hearts of Oak and the Black Stars.
He died in 1997 whiles on Holidays in Ghana.
