Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Commander, has performed a ceremony to start the construction works on Ayigya Police Station, with a call to the public to appreciate security as shared responsibility.
He said everybody must find space to contribute their part to efforts at making the society safe.
The community is implementing the project through the contribution of labour and financial resources by the people.
DCOP Boakye hailed the strong support and cooperation the police have been receiving from the chiefs and people in the region.
He cited the building of new police stations and police posts alongside the supply of logistics to enhance their operations.
This, he said, is helping them to establish strong presence in the communities to fight crime.
He pointed out that police visibility is helping to assure the people of adequate security protection and the maintenance of order.
DCOP Boakye urged the people to have the courage to give useful information for the arrest and prosecution of those who had chosen to live outside the law and causing pain to the law-abiding.
The Queen of Ayigya, Nana Akosua Oheneaferewo said the community would do everything to complete the project without delay, noting that, the benefits to the inhabitants would be immense.
