Ravaging fire nearly razed down Koforidua central market but by the timely intervention of the Butchers in the market who raised alarm after detecting a thick smoke emanating from the market ,which attracted volunteers to extinguish the fire which was in near growth stage before the arrival of Fire Service personnel .
The incident occurred at around 7pm on Thursday.
The fire is reported to have been sparked by a naked fire left on a Coal pot by a fish seller in he market .
Ibrahim Makyele ,a butcher at the market tells Kasapa News, the fire was so daring that it could have consumed the entire market had it not been detected early.
He said, he together with other volunteers defied the thick smoke to put off the fire from source with several buckets of water before the arrival of the Ghana National Fire Service Personnel.
