Krachi students undertake voluntary teaching programme

Kete-Krachi (V/R), Aug. 24, GNA - The Krachi District Students Union of Ghana (KRADSUG), had completed a six-week voluntary teaching programme in some second-cycle schools in the District to help raise the standards of education.

Some of the beneficiary schools were: Krachi Secondary School, Krachi Secondary/Technical School, Kajaji Secondary School, Asukawkaw Senior Secondary School, Oti Secondary School, and the Pentecost Secondary School.

Tokuroano Local Authority JSS, Banda Local Authority JSS, Borai Number Two Local Authority JSS, Osrama Local Authority JSS and Abujuro Local Authority JSS also benefited from the programme.

Mr Tio Keyeke Maclean, President of the Union, who addressed a public forum at Kete-Krachi, the District capital, to round off the programme, stressed the importance of education and the need for parents to send their children to school.

He appealed to the Krachi West District Assembly to provide Kete-Krachi with a well-stocked library and organise educational packages for brilliant but needy students.

Mr Maclean asked the political parties to avoid confrontation in their political campaigns towards Election 2004, since seeds of disaffection could degenerate into anarchy.

Mr Keyeke commended the Government for selecting the Krachi Secondary School, among the first to be upgraded to a first class school and appealed to the District Assembly to expedite action on the project.
