Ashanti has presented gifts running into thousands of cedis in support of the Kumasi Children's home.
These included clothes, shoes, edible oil, bags of rice, soft drinks, biscuits, toiletries, loaves of bread, toffees, balls of kenkey, fish and cash of GH¢100.00.
Earlier, members of the Fante Community undertook a massive clean up exercise to improve on the environmental sanitation of the orphanage.
They cleared weeds and silt from gutters, swept the compound and removed cobwebs.
Nana Akorful Owese, the Mfantsehene in Ashanti, said this was part of their contribution towards the upkeep of the children.
It comes ahead of the grand durbar to climax the second "Mfantse Day" celebration, scheduled to take place, in Kumasi, on August 21.
He pledged the continued support of the Council to home to help make life a bit comfortable for the children there.
Receiving the items, Mrs Theresa Xorlali Tengey, the Principal Childcare Officer, said they were grateful to the Council for the assistance.
She appealed to organizations, churches and individuals to do more to help meet the needs of the children.
She said all should join in efforts at taking good care of orphans and the less privileged children in society.
