Kumasi health authorities undermine maternal exemption policy

Kumasi, April 21, GNA- Dr Joseph Oduro, Kumasi Metropolitan Director of Health Services, has expressed concern about the refusal of authorities of some health facilities in the Metropolis, to implement the Government's maternal delivery exemption policy.

He said money had been released for the programme introduced in Kumasi on April, this year, to reduce maternal morality. Dr Oduro was speaking at the first quarterly review meeting of the Metropolitan Health Directorate in Kumasi on Wednesday. He said both private and public institutions were qualified to assess the fund.

Dr Oduro described malaria, tuberculosis and HIV as a challenge to health care delivery and appealed to the health personnel to rededicate themselves to arrest the situation.
