Kuntanase to get police headquarters

Kuntanase (Ash), Jan 4, GNA - Work on a 2.5 billion-cedi district police headquarters for the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District is to commence soon at Kuntanase.

The construction of the district police headquarters by the district assembly, which would accommodate about 30 police personnel, is to help strengthen security in the district. Mr Bright Addai-Mununkum, the District Chief Executive, who disclosed this, said the Sawuah, Hwidiem and Brofoyedru police posts, which are in deplorable states, would be rehabilitated and given facelifts.

In a New Year message to the people in the district, he said the Trede police station being built by the community, would be completed by the assembly, this year, while new police posts would be opened at Beposo and Oyoko respectively. Mr Addai-Mununkum said this year would witness the empowerment of the youth, as the government had voted an amount of one trillion cedis for the creation of jobs for the youth, under the youth employment programme.

He said about 1,000 youth in the district were being organized to be trained under the programme and said the target group would be out-of-school youth and called on them to respond positively to the programme.

The DCE said the programme enjoined every municipality or district assembly to establish six model programmes to include volunteers in health, education, agriculture, neighbourhood watch in the communities, and youth in agric business.

These would be sponsored to attend apprenticeship training in tailoring, dressmaking and other vocations and would be given equipment and logistics to commence their businesses after training. Mr Addai-Mununkum announced that 16 disused places of convenience would be rehabilitated this year, at the cost of 570 million cedis, while new ones would be built for communities that were seriously in need of them.
