Lambussie, (UWR), Nov.17, GNA - The Chiefs and people of the Lambussie Traditional Area in the Jirapa/Lambussie District have expressed gratitude to President John Agyekum Kufuor and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for creating a separate district for them.
"We are happy with the government for considering us with a district which we believe would help bring development to us and enhances our living conditions".
Kuoro Iddrisu Bamie Yesseh, III, Paramount Chief of the Lambussie Traditional Area commended the government for listening to the plight of his people and gave the assurance that he and his people would work together to ensure maximum peace in the area to enhance development. Kuoro Yesseh was speaking at a durbar organised in honour of Hajia Ramatu Mahama, wife of Vice President Aliu Mahama at Lambussie as part of her three-day working tour of the Upper West Region. During the tour, she interacted with chiefs and NPP executives, supporters and sympathizers to solicit votes for her husband who is contesting for the presidential seat of the NPP.
Kuoro Yesseh said the creation of a district for Lambussie had been overdue and said he would mobilise his people to undertake communal labour to complement government efforts to make the district a viable and a vibrant one.
"The Lambussie Traditional Area will always live to support the NPP and its government and pray that its fair share of the national cake reaches us", Kuoro Yesseh said.
Hajia Ramatu Mahama was happy with the chief for assuring the government of peace and the rekindling of communal spirit among the people in the area.
She appealed to chiefs to make peace in their areas as one of their cardinal points since without peace their authorities would not be recognized.
She urged delegates from the Upper West Region, who would attend the forthcoming delegates conference of the NPP in December 22 to elect a presidential candidate to lead the NPP, to vote for her husband.
