Agona-Swedru (C/R), Dec. 8, GNA - Thirty officers of the Land Valuation Board (LVB) in the Agona District of the Central Region, on Thursday attended a day's orientation course at Agona Swedru to upgrade their knowledge in modern valuation methods to enhance their operations. Resource persons included Mr E D Nuotuo, Executive Secretary, Mr Ben Arthur, Assistant Project Co-ordinator both of the Accra office of the Board and Mr Justice M Morgan, Central Regional Officer of the Board.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at the end of the course, Mr Arthur said it was designed to prepare the participants towards a programme to undertake a massive land valuation exercise in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District.
Towns to benefit from the planned valuation programme included Awutu-Bawjiase, Awutu-Beraku, Kasoa, Senya-Beraku and Winneba. Mr Morgan said the success of services rendered to the public would depend on the high sense of integrity and commitment of the field workers of the Board.
Mr Isaac D. Mwangu, an official of the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly who stood in for the District Chief Executive Mr Solomon K Abbam-Quaye, expressed optimism that the planned valuation exercise in the district would go a long way to help Assembly to generate adequate revenue from property rates.
Mr H K A Tettey, Agona District Officer of the Board expressed his appreciation to the resource persons and the Awutu-Effutu-Assembly, sponsors of the course and called for more of such orientations to strengthen the capabilities of other workers.
