Emmanuel Danso, a consultant to Queiroz Galvao, the Brazilian company constructing the Kejetia market in Kumasi, has revealed that disputes over land plagued the project, hence the delay in its completion.

The project which was awarded to the company on 14th July, 2015, was to be completed within two years but is currently behind schedule.

With the exception of land litigation, no major difficulties had been encountered in the construction, Mr Danso said.

Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM on Tuesday May 16, he said: “In addition to the market itself we are constructing the roads linking the market, the road from Pampaso to PZ through to MTN-Adehyeman to Kejetia market. We are also doing a water supply project to repair the damaged pipelines.

“This project was awarded to the company on 14th July, 2015, and so it has been nearly two years. There were some land litigation issues that affected the work, but these issue have been addressed by the chiefs and those involved for the work to be fully completed. I can assure you that the project will be over soon.”
