Late coach Herbert Addo's wife installed 'development queen' of Abotakyi-Akuapem

Newly-installed ‘Abontendomhemaa’ of Abotakyi-Akuapem, Nana Akua Animaa 1 has promised to lead the charge for women empowerment and gender equality in the township.

Known in private life as Gifty Addo, Nana Akua Animaa assured the elders and members of the township of her commitment to championing the .

While expressing gratitude to the chiefs and elders for the honour done her, Gifty Addo who was the wife late football coach Hebert Addo said that she is committed to the development of the town and will play her part.

“It’s an honour and at the same a big task for me. As an ‘Abontendomhemaa, I will do everything within my power continue with my vision of women empowerment. Abotakyi is a land with great history but along the line our history could not sell us but today history has began’, he said.

At a convivial ceremony on Saturday, Gifty Acquah Addo was honoured with the ‘Abontendomhemaa’ for her selfless service to the town.

She is expected to serve as a role model for young ladies in the town and also project the township.

The chief of Abotakyi-Akuapem Okokyekyerekro Kwame Sakyi Ababio II advised his fellow chiefs to live exemplary lives.

“Chieftaincy institution is a highly institution recognized in Ghana. Nowadays there are so many chieftaincy disputes in the country all because some of the royals who are supposed to lead by good example have failed. Other people have used money to enter into the institution which does not auger well for the institution”, he said.
