Civil Society groups have been called upon to dispassionately complement government?s efforts in tackling health delivery issues in the country. A Senior Medical Officer at Northern region Directorate of the Ghana health services, Dr Kofi Issah, made the call during the launch of Northern zone of ?Alliance For Reproductive Health Rights? in Tamale. The function of the Alliance is to monitor the planning, implementation and evaluation processes of the National Health Insurance Scheme. The theme for the occasion was ?the Role of the Private Sector or Civil Society with the alliance in perspective in Ghana health policy and service delivery. It was for members of eight civil society groups, all drawn from the three northern regions and organised by Integrated Social Development Centre, ISODEC, an NGO. Dr Issah impressed upon the alliance to play advocacy role by lobbying the government and the citizenry to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme.
