Gomoa Onyadze (C/R) June 23, GNA- Textbooks and basic education certificates of some past students of Gomoa Onyadze-Otsew Jukwa District Assembly Junior Secondary School, have been destroyed due to the leaking roof of the headmistress office.
Teaching and learning is also disrupted any time there was rainfall, while the doors and windows of the 41-year old school have decayed. The Headmistress, Miss Eunice Agyir who made this known to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the foundation of the school was also weakened by erosion, thus discouraging some students to attend school. She said teachers of the school had to go to the communities to convince the students to attend classes.
Miss Agyir said she was awaiting the response to the appeal she made to the Ghana Education Service, the Parent- Teacher Association and the Management Committee of the school to put things right. Mrs Emma Quarcoo, District Director of Education told the GNA that she would visit the school to ascertain the facts on the ground. " My office is not aware of the bad situation," she said. Meanwhile Mr Isaac Kankam-Boadu from the Winneba Operational Office of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency has presented 1000 acacia trees seedlings to the school to boost its afforestation project.
