Gomoa Afranse (C/R), May 24, GNA -A suggestion has been made that just as District Chief Executives appointed by the President were mandated to be confirmed by the assemblies, their removal from office must also be referred to the assemblies to decide.
The Gomoa East District Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NAMOD), Mr. Daniel Donnie, was speaking at a form at Afranse organised by the Constitutional Review Commission to collate public views for the review of the 1992 Constitution. He opposed the election of DCEs on the grounds that it would be difficult for them to be removed even if they were not performing just as Members of Parliament could not be easily removed from office because they were elected.
Mr. Isaac Kingsley Ahunu-Armah, Gomoa East District Chief Executive, in a welcoming address, said the fact that the constitution guaranteed Ghanaians liberties and sovereignty, it ought to be a document that should not hinder the aspirations of the people in any way.
He said the oil find had brought another dimension which the review exercise should take into consideration particularly, issues relating to oil drilling and oil trade.
