Let's all rally behind the Government - Omanhene

Nkoranza (B/A) Feb. 3, GNA - Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom 1V, Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area, has urged Ghanaians, irrespective of party affiliations, to be submissive to the new government to promote national development.

He was addressing congregants at a special church service, at the weekend, organised by the Local Council of Churches to mark the national day of prayer.

Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom stated: "Those who oppose the current administration oppose what God has ordained and they will bring judgment to themselves," quoting Romans Chapter 13 verses 1-7 from the bible. He emphasized that the followers and members of the two main political parties in the country, the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), needed to regard themselves as one people and support development programmes initiated by the government.

The paramount chief commended President John Evans Atta Mills for initiating the national day of prayer programme to win God's blessings for unity, peace and development.

Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom advised the President to choose responsible persons as Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives so they would effectively mobilize the people for the successful implementation of development programmes. The Reverend Emmanuel Osei, chairman of the Nkoranza Local Council of Churches, and minister in charge of Presbyterian Church, Nkoranza, commended the people for comporting themselves well during and after the general election.

He, however, cautioned the people against being divided by partisan politics and pledged that religious leaders would continue to pray for the nation's advancement.

Rev. Osei led in prayers for God's blessings and prosperity for the State, persons in authority and the governed. Mr. Peter Owusu Baffoe, chairman of Nkoranza South Constituency branch of the NDC, expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Local Council of Churches for organising the special service to promote unity among the people. The Third Battalion of Infantry band of the Liberation barracks in Sunyani provided music at the programme.
