As Ghana joins the rest of the world to celebrate Christmas and usher in the new year (2025) after peaceful and successful general elections, the National Chairman of the Progressive Transport Owners Association of Ghana (PROTOA), Benjamin Agorsu Katsekpor, has advised motorists and other road users to be mindful of their activities to ensure that road accidents are reduced or avoided during the festive (Yuletide) season.

Katsekpor advised in an interview at Aflao, observing that most drivers, in a haste to cash in on the festive season, break traffic regulations with impunity and often ignore road signs, resulting in the carnage and fatalities witnessed on the roads. He called for a change in the status quo.

Katsekpor further advised motorists to avoid unnecessary speeding and overtaking, which he said were the major causes of road accidents.

"We all know that many people travel to and from various places across the country to join their families, friends, and loved ones to celebrate Christmas and usher in the new year, and every driver or transport owner wants to seize the opportunity to maximize profits - but let us not sacrifice precious lives all because we want to make more money," he advised.

The PROTOA Chairman expressed appreciation to all members of the association as well as all national, regional, and branch executives for their commitment over the years, extending felicitations of the festive season while praying for God's guidance and protection for all members in the years ahead.
