Assin Nsuaem-Kyekyewere (C/R) Nov. 10, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor on Tuesday said the creation of new district to accelerate development, especially in the rural areas should foster unity and co-operation among the people rather than bring disunity among them. He therefore, appealed to citizens of the newly created Assin South district in the Central Region to unite and mobilise all human and material resources in the area for an effective and efficient utilisation of resources that would be provided by the central government to the district to improve the socio-economic development of the area.

President Kufuor said the government had already allocated one billion cedis from the HIPC Funds to begin work on the rehabilitation of the Assin Dawumanko water project.

However, he said problems in the area that required assistance from the government were rehabilitation of the abandoned Assin Dawumanko water project, intermittent power supply, communication facilities and a better health care facility.
