Lordina Foundation offers 21 students Scholarship to China

The Lordina Foundation, with support from the Chinese government, has offered scholarships to 21 Ghanaian students to study in China.

The offer to the students is the second highest on the continent given by the Chinese government.

A statement from the Office of the First Lady, and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said Mrs Mahama asked the students to put the knowledge they would acquire from their studies in China to help promote the economic and social development agenda of the country.

It said Mrs Mahama who met the students at the Chinese Ambassador’s residence in Accra also asked them to abide by the laws and respect the culture norms of China.

“I thank the Chinese Embassy for facilitating the deep relationship between Ghana and China, which goes back to the time of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and Chairman Mao,” the statement quoted her as saying.

The statement quoted Ms Sun Boahong, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, as saying China would continue to assist Ghanaian students to obtain any form of education in their country.

She noted that the scholarship offered to the students is part of the Chinese Government’s efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

The statement said the students thanked the Lordina Foundation and the Chinese Government for their dedication to the promotion of education, especially girls’ education in Ghana.
