Kumasi, July 15, GNA - Alhaji Mohammed Munkata Mubarak, Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawasi, has reiterated his call for his constituents to bury their tribal and political sentiments and offer him the needed support and co-operation towards the development of the area. He said this was very crucial because any development that came to the constituency would be to the benefit of all and sundry and not exclusively to the MP.
He said this when he presented 40 mono desks to the Ghana Muslim Mission Basic School at Akwatialine in Kumasi on Friday. Alhaji Mubarak expressed his appreciation about the state of the infrastructure facilities and the serene environment of the school and advised the children to take advantage of them and work harder to improve on their performance.
The MP called on Muslim parents to encourage their children to go beyond senior secondary school levels so that they could contribute more effectively towards the development of the country.
Alhaji Ibrahim Baryeh, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Muslim Mission, called on Muslims to demonstrate a high level of hard work and tolerance for their children to emulate.
He urged parents to provide the basic educational needs of their children to motivate and encourage them to learn hard.
Alhaji Amadu Abudu, Ashanti Regional Manager of the Islamic Education Unit expressed the hope that the Mission had achieved its set goals of establishing the school. He told parents not to be discouraged when their children did not perform well but should be prepared to continue to help them to move ahead.
Mr Abdallah Opoku Ware, Ashanti regional chairman of Ghana Muslim Youth Organisation later presented a 1,000 capacity polytank on behalf of the organisation to the school.
Alhaji Alhassan Asiedu-Ampem, chairman of the School Management Committee (SMC), thanked the MP and the organisation for their gesture and called on stakeholders to continue to work hard to uplift the image of the school.
