MP for old Tafo donates computers and other educational materials to constituents

The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo Constituency and Minister in charge of Monitoring and Evaluation, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei has donated 400 desks to seven basic schools in his constituency.

He also donated three desktop computers to Uthmania Senior High School (SHS).

The donation forms part of his 2016 electioneering campaign promises to improve quality education in his area.

The presentation was done in a short ceremony to the Metro Education Director, Mrs. Owusu Agyemang, by the chairman of NPP Tafo Constituency, Secretary and Special Assistant to MP.

A total of 400 desks and 8 computers was valued at 60,000 Ghana Cedis as share of MP's GETFUND for 2018.

The beneficiary schools were; Tafo Methodist, TAPASS A&B, Tafo SDA, Pankrono MA, St. Benedict JHS and Father Kriesher RC.

The Member of Parliament in a statement delivered on his behalf, tasked the heads of the various schools to maintain and put the desks into good use for students to benefit from it.

It must be noted that Hon. Dr Akoto Osei, the MP has since the allocation of GETFUND to MPs utilised his share in providing educational infrastructure for his constituents and till date about 2000 desks have been distributed to the schools.

In addition, the following educational facilities have also be constructed; three 6 unit classroom blocks, two 8 classroom blocks built for Tafo RC, Pankrono RC, Tafo Methodist, Tafo MA, TAPASS A primary school ,and about 200 computers have been shared for both SHS and Basic schools in the Constituency.

In the last 10 years about 600,000 Ghana Cedis have gone into various infrastructural projects funding for schools.

As part of the goal of the MP to promote education and learning, the Hon MP seeks to engender the greater policy of the NPP manifesto pledges in both President Kufuor era and President Nana Akufo-Addo's led Government to make Ghana an enlightened nation for the next generation of youth leaders.
