Madina Hausa Chief installed

Madina (GAR), Jan 4, GNA - Sheikh I.C. Quaye, Greater-Accra Regional Minister, on Saturday called on Moslems to respect elders in their communities and to follow the teachings of the Holy Koran on faithfulness and love for their neighbours as themselves. He was speaking at the installation of Alhaji Adamu Doro Hamidu as the Hausa Chief of Madina, in the Ga District of the Greater-Accra. The Regional Minister also urged the new Chief to respect the people and to consult regularly with his elders before taking any action on behalf of the community.

Sheikh Alhaji Nuhu Scharubutu, National Chief Imam, performed the installation after various Imams and prominent Islamic scholars had laid their hands on the new Chief dressed in a white gown and wearing a white turban.

On behalf of the Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, one million cedis, was presented to the new Hausa Chief of Hausa. Alhaji Adamu Doro Hamidu is 50 years old and a businessman in the transport and livestock sectors.

Alhaji Moctar Musah Bamba, Deputy Minister at the Office of the President, Dr. Abdul Majeed Haroun, Deputy Minister for Mines, Mr. S.O. Darko, MP for Ga North, Professor Mike Ocquaye, Ghana's Ambassador to India and Mr. Nortei Yeboah, Presiding Member of the Ga District Assembly attended the installation. Ethnic Chiefs from Kumasi, Koforidua and the Greater-Accra also attended the ceremony.
