Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Charles Ahiamale, Deputy Commander of the Madina Motor Transport and Traffic Unit Police, on Thursday warned truck pushers that it is an offence for them to obstruct traffic.
ASP Ahiamale who organised an education forum for the pushers operating around Madina and Ashaley Botwe in Accra, said the unruly behavior of some of them leads to motor accidents and offenders would be prosecuted.
He expressed worry about the safety of the pushers on the road, adding that once they are applying their trade without insurance cover, it is impossible for them to be compensated when they are involved in accident.
During the first quarter of 2012, three truck pushers have been injured in road accidents with one having his leg broken, he said.
The truck pushers appealed for special demarcated places for them on the roads in order to carry out their services.**
