Mahama donate relief items to rainstorm victims in Tamale

His Excellency president John Dramani Mahama, has donated relief items to victims in the recent rainstorm that caused havoc and displaced many residence within the Tamale metropolis with an appealed to the residents in the region to endeavour to follow proper planning procedure in putting up their buildings.

The items were donated by the Northern Regional minister, Honourable Alhaji Muhamed Muniru- Lemuna, yesterday in Tamale, the Northern Regional Capital.

He said as a social democratic party, the NDC placed premium on people and as such decided to marshal resources available to help alleviate the plight of the affected persons.

Alhaji Lemuna stated that to realise the better Ghana agenda promised by the ruling NDC, his administration will work closely with the chiefs and opinion leaders in order to better the lot of residents across the region.

He said the swift response of the donation became possible through the relentless efforts of the President.

The Deputy Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Sangnarigu constituency which is one of the affected areas, emphasized that the constituency has garnered the highest voting margin for the NDC party during the 2012 general election.

He used the occasion to commend President John Dramani Mahama, through the Regional Minister, Alhaji Lemuna, for the kind gesture.

The Paramount Chief of the Sangnarigu Traditional area Naa Yakubu Abdulai Andani, who was apparently uplifted with the gesture, commended government for the support offered to his subjects and pledge that the items would be disbursed judiciously.
The items distributed to the rainstorm victims included; 180 mini Maize bags, 180 mini Rice bags, Blankets 120 pieces, Mosquito Coil 15 Cartons, Plastic plates 250 pieces, Plastic cups 340 Pieces. Other items distributed were Plastic basin 10 pieces, Matches 6 Cartons, Used clothing 6 bales, Roofing Sheet 90 Packets and the last but not the least was Cement which is 180 bags.
Present at the function were some were some chiefs and political bigwigs as well as the beneficiary folks.
