Make collection of Tsunami disaster donation easy Bishop

Apam (C/R), Jan 16, GNA - The leader of the Apam branch of the Church of the Lord, Lighthouse, Bishop Albert Hackman, has appealed to the government to make the channelling of donations to the Tsunami victims easy.

The Right Reverend Hackman noted that to make things easy, the banks should be involved the collection of donations to enable as many people as possible especially those in rural areas to donate.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Apam, he described the disaster, which claimed at least 150,000 lives, as very unfortunate and appealed to Ghanaians to contribute to provide relief to the victims. He called on Churches and other religious and social bodies to donate generously and to take special offerings for them.

Bishop Hackman asked Ghanaians to learn a lesson from the disaster and to take precautionary measures to protect the environment from degradation.

"We should be bold to report people who clandestinely win sand from the beaches to law enforcing agencies," he added.
