Mamprusi and other tribes pledge support for Bawku Naba

Some Mamprusis and other ethnic groups in the Bawku Municipality have pledged support for the Bawku Naba, Zag-rana Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, Paramount Chief of the Bawku Traditional Area, to enable him rule effectively to ensure peace and development in the area.

The ethnic groups include Mossis, Busanga, and the Yarisi living in Binduri and other areas near Bawku.

The pledge was made by a team of elders from the various ethnic groups and led by Naba Robert Agapwine Akolbilla, chief of Binduri during a curtsey call on the Bawku Naba to show their allegiance to him.

They commended Zag-rana Asigri Abugrago Azoka for his support during the elevation of the Binduri to a district status.

Naba Robert Agapwine Akolibila said the creation of the new district would encourage non- governmental organizations and developmental partners to invest in the area.

Mr Thomas Abilla, the Spokesperson for the Bawku Naba, said the step taken by the elders would maintain love and unity among the people in the various communities as they had shown that they were one people with one destiny.

He appealed to other ethnic groups to also pledge loyalty to the Bawku Naba to demonstrate that the people of Bawku were not at war with one another.**
