A 28-year-old man has been arrested by the Sofoline police in the Ashanti Region for allegedly subjecting his nine-year-old nephew to severe torture resulting in burns on both legs.
In an interview with Atinkaonline.com, a local reporter Agya Obeng mentioned that the suspect whose name was given as Kwame Boateng came back from work on 14th February 2017 and started abusing the 9-year-old boy verbally, saying the boy had developed the habit of spreading 'false rumours' about him.
According to Agya Obeng, Kwame Boateng after verbally assaulting the boy dragged and locked him up in his room subjecting him to torture with heated electric iron which led to severe burns on the child.
According to Agya Obeng, the mother of the boy upon hearing screams quickly rushed to the scene to find her son in agonising pain.
When questioned by the hospital staff, Kwame Boateng mentioned that the boy tripped and fell on a hot coal pot.
The incident was later reported to the Sofoline Police who arrested Kwame Boateng.
The 9-year-old boy is currently on admission at the Kwadaso SDA Hospital receiving treatment.
