Man drowns in lake

Tarkwa, (W/R) Feb 18, GNA - A 32 year-old man, Kojo Ibrahim, drowned in a small lake called, "Rapaloma Bay," at Tarkwa, when he went to swim with two of his friends, last Sunday. Ibrahim and his friends visited the lakeside for merry making and decided to swim around midday when the unfortunate incident happened.

DSP Godfred Anim, Tarkwa District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that the deceased used a faulty boat that had been parked on the banks of the lake to cruise with his friends. According to DSP Anim, Ibrahim disregarded the advice of the lake instructor that the boat was faulty and went ahead to use it. The deceased, however, later dived into the lake while his friends continued to cruise.

His friends at some point realised that Ibrahim was neither swimming nor floating and therefore raised the alarm. DSP Anim said swimmers from Huniso, a nearby community, retrieved the body. Meanwhile, the body has been deposited at the Tarkwa Government hospital for autopsy.
