Benu-Nkwanta (B/A) Jan. 5, GNA - Richard Manu, a 26 year old farmer was on Wednesday found dead on his bed with blood oozing from his chest and a gun lying beside him at Benu-Nkwanta, a farming community, near Atronie in the Sunyani municipality.
The body has been deposited at the Sunyani Regional Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Detective Inspector Clement Akrofi Manu told Ghana News Agency in an interview that the deceased's father, Opanin Henneh told police that around midnight on Wednesday he heard a gunshot so decided to find out what was happening.
Opanin Henneh said he thought one of the hunters who stayed in the area might have fired the gun but when he came out of his room he saw his son's door open and when he entered he saw his son lying dead on the bed dead with a gun beside him.
Detective Inspector Akrofi said Opanin Henneh told him he rushed to inform neighbours in the area who assisted in taking the body to the police station and the mortuary.
He said during interrogation Opanin Henneh said neither he nor his late son possessed a gun.
The police have since retrieved the gun and are conducting further investigations into the case.
