The body of a man believed to be in his forties was found hanging from a tree at the Catholic Training Centre in Kumasi – known as Christian Village – days after he was reported missing.
He has been identified only as John by some people believed to be family relations; and the discovery of the decomposed body has set in motion police investigation to determine whether he was a victim of a crime or he did take his own life.
John was found hanging from the tree in the early hours of yesterday during a routine visit and cleaning exercise by some labourers of the Village.
A lot of curious onlookers wondered what could have compelled such a young good-looking man to commit suicide, leaving behind his Nokia phone, suicide note and bag, when DAILY GUIDE got to the scene at about 12:30pm.
The dangling body was only in a pair of boxer shorts with the neck strapped in a rope, and it appeared to have been hanging on the tree for some days as it had reached the state of decomposition.
It was not clear whether he lived in one of the communities in the area, but some bystanders said they had spotted him before at Santasi and believed the man was a devout Catholic.
Workers of the Village refused to speak to the media on the man’s death, whilst the legibility of the deceased person’s purported suicide note was obliterated by the rainfall the previous night.
Officers from the Sofoline police station came for the body at about 1:30 pm with crime scene investigators taking pictures and exhibits.
