Man jailed for defilement

Aflao, Feb. 14, GNA - Tsagli Kadzashi, 54, a married man of Lume-Hugakope, near Tadzewu in the Ketu District was last Friday jailed 10 years for defiling a 15-year old girl, who is an imbecile. Mr. Godwin Kwasikuma, presiding over the Aflao Circuit Court overruled Kadzashi's explanation that he committed the act under the influence of alcohol and sentenced him on his own plea of guilty. Inspector Michael Torgbenu of Tadzewu Police told the court that the victim lived with her parents at Lume-Hugakope where Kadzashi also lived with his wife and children.

He said on Wednesday February 4, this year after going on a drinking spree with some friends, Kadzashi, around midnight broke into the room where the victim was sleeping to commit the act.

Inspector Torgbenu said Mr. Simpson Dzadu, the victim's step-father who was in an adjacent room with his wife, who is the victim's mother, heard an unusual noise and rushed into the victim's room where he found Kadzashi having sex with the victim. He said Kadzashi was overpowered and sent first to the area Unit Committee Chairman, the local Chief and later handed over to the Police. Inspector Torgbenu said at the Police Station, Kadzashi pleaded with the Police to facilitate an amicable settlement of the case, claiming he did it while drunk.
