Man killed in Zebra Crossing.

Bolgatanga, March 26, GNA - A middle-aged man, of about 35 years was on Tuesday night hit and killed on the spot in Bolgatanga in a zebra crossing near the Mobil Filling Station, when a Mitsubishi salon car run over him.

The police have identified the body of the deceased, as Belen Bugu Fuseini, a staff of the Ghana Education Service (GES) who hails from the Upper West Region.

Narrating the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), An eyewitness said the salon car was from the Ministries area and heading towards Estate direction and using the inner lane of a dual carriage when a Benz truck with registration number 714P, which apparently might have failed breaks, run into the passenger side of the salon car forcing it to hit the deceased.

He explained that the impact of the hit on the car forced it to go over the flowerbed portion that divided the road and hit the man who was waiting on the opposite side in a zebra crossing to cross. The eyewitness said the Benz truck driver, one Collin Asamoah, controlled the vehicle through an intersection towards Zongo and run into a barbering salon. No one was hurt in the salon as they had all left for the evening Muslim prayer.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Bolgatanga General Hospital mortuary.

The driver of the salon car with registration number GT89G, Mr. Issah Tahiru, and the driver of the truck Collins Asamoah have been detained pending further investigations.
