Manso-Brofoyedru (Ash), April 21, GNA - The people of Manso-Brofoyedru in the Amansie West district of Ashanti at the weekend realised 9.5 million cedis from a fund-raising towards an electrification project.
They are also contributing 70,000 cedis per man and 50,000 cedis a woman towards the project. Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah, Paramount chief of the Manso-Nkwanta
Traditional Area, appealed to the people to bury their differences and unite for the development of the area. He noted that education formed the foundation for the development of every country and advised parents to invest in the education of their children instead of spending lavishly on funerals, marriages and other ceremonies.
Mr Ben Kwakye-Adeefe, Amansie West District Chief Executive, urged the people to rekindle their communal spirit to enable them to undertake more self-help projects to improve their standard of living. He urged them to support the National Health Insurance Scheme by contributing towards its operations when it takes off in the district to enable them have access to affordable and quality health care. Nana Kwabena Antwi II, chief of Manso-Brofoyedru, appealed to the district assembly to provide the town with additional boreholes to help solve the water problem there.
He also requested the government to tar the one-kilometre road linking the town with the Manso-Nkwanta trunk road to facilitate economic activities.
