Manya Klo Foundation raises funds

The Manya Klo Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization committed to the development of Manya Krobo Traditional Area has organized a fund-raising exercise to complete the Manya Klo Community Centre.

The community center, which is situated at Laasii (Odumase-Krobo) when completed, would have an Information Communication and Technology (ICT) centre to train the youth of the area.

The centre would also have a table tennis hall and a basket-ball court for the recreation of the youth.

According to the Executive Secretary of the Foundation, Mr Buatey Annor, the Foundation had so far spent GHC 370,000.00 on the project excluding labour and require about GHC 260,000.00 to complete it.

He said since 1998, the Foundation had made several contributions towards the development of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area including donation of a bus to Atua Hospital at Odumase; provision of water tanks to the Krobo Girls Senior High School; and the distribution of library books to schools in the traditional area among others.

Dr Edward Narh, President of the Foundation, said some citizens of Manya Krobo resident abroad had donated medals for presentation to the youth who would be participating in games at the center to motivate them.

He promised to donate a table tennis set to the community centre when completed.

Mr Wallace Akondor, Acting Commissioner of Ghana Revenue Authority, who was the guest speaker, called on the youth to be humble and persevere in everything they do.

The Chairman of the occasion, Mr Albert Yohuno, urged the members of the Foundation to leave a legacy of giving for the development of society and for future generation.
