Saltpond (C/R), Oct. 20, GNA - The Mfantseman District Assembly failed to elect a Presiding Member at its meeting on Monday as none of the two contestants had the mandated two-thirds of the total number of members after a second balloting.

Mr Frank Neequaye, the incumbent and Mr Adjei Asamoah Kusi polled 28, and 35 respectively in the first ballot, and 26, 36 in the second voting in the election, which was conducted by the District Electoral Officer and his staff.

Earlier when given the chance to present their manifestoes, Mr Neequaye said he had initiated some programmes to boost the economy of the Assembly, which he needed another term of office to implement. He pledged that his second term would bring substantial revenue to the Assembly for development.
